Katarara Day 3

Day 3 at Katarara Primary School included more teaching- including the science lesson using magnifying glasses and pocket microscopes we brought. This perfectly fit in with the lesson they were doing on lenses!  Students explored object out in the schoolyard and practiced their scientific drawings- I was in heave- Science is a verb here in Uganda, too!

The whole school gathered in the nearby church to Watch the film we have made over the past few days using a Watkinson iPad and the iMovie app. The older Watkinson projector generously donated by the Tech Dept projected on to white fabric we bought in town yesterday the children playing, singing and being a part of our lessons over the past 3 days! The laughter and amazement at seeing themselves "on the big screen" filled the church.

Back in town, we got a sugarcane eating lesson, played cards with Baker (the assistant at the Golden Monkey Guest House who has tagged along with us each day at Katarara) and played volleyball with the staff of Golden Monkey and the Virgunga Cooksteove Project.  Tonight, we head to the home of Pius Birgiramana, a Minister in the government and old friend, to reconnect with the doctors from UCONN.  Never a dull moment in Uganda!!!
